It is with great sadness that we note the passing of the important curator and art historian, Riva Caslteman, who passed away on September 4th.

From 1976 to 1995 Castleman worked with ceaseless grace as the MOMA’s Director of Prints and Illustrated Books department, where she was the curator of over twenty exhibitions and a significant body of written scholarship. She was a champion of the fine art print and Her legacy can be viewed in part by the elevated position the fine art print now finds itself within the larger art world.

For a more information see Bruce Weber’s article in the NY Times and the MOMA’s Caslteman Papers.
