BYO Print, revisited

Established in 2009, BYO Print is a community printshop in East Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. Since being featured on this blog in July 2012, BYO has moved to new facilities in the Sharktown Studios building. BYO is currently outfitted for etching, screenprinting, and relief, and will have their litho press up and running in the very near future.

I had the chance to sit down with Katie VanVliet, a founding member of BYO, to chat about the studio’s mission. She emphasized that the shop was intended to be a facilitator, a place for independent artistic growth. Functioning much like a co-op, everything BYO does is member driven.

Such swanky wallpaper. BYO's screenprinting setup.

Combo press.

2 etching presses, inking table in back right.

The studios newly acquired litho press.

Nice collection on litho stones.
