Crystal Wagner’s “Surface” at MAPC 2012

Crystal Wagner is at it again, this time with her piece Surface exhibited in conjunction with the Mid America Print Council conference this year. It’s a towering mixed-media installation at the Rosemary Berkel & Harry L. Crisp II Southeast Missouri Regional Museum. The piece uses biomorphic forms reminiscent of cellular structures, botanical forms, and the microscopic. These are juxtaposed and synthesized with man-made materials: a table cloth, cable, mylar and chicken wire, and finished with screen-printing and relief printing atop. Surface continues her examination of the environment, artifice, and humanity’s role within.
