This Week in Baltimore!

As a savvy student of the New Media Landscape, you’re totally plugged in to all things Printeresting. So it’s probably not even necessary to tell you that your Printeresting Editors will speak at the Baltimore Contemporary Print Fair this Sunday, April 29 at 11:00 AM. (If you were somehow unaware, it’s not too late to book airfare. Southwest Airlines flies direct into BWI from many cities).

This is a good week for prints in Baltimore. In addition to the Print Fair, which boasts an impressive roster of shops, the Baltimore Museum of Art will host a lecture by Trenton Doyle Hancock tomorrow at 7 PM.

This semester, Hancock visited Maryland Institute College of Art to work with the College’s new Globe Collection and Press. In addition to the fabulous poster above, Hancock produced a fine art edition, sales of which will support the BMA’s acquisition of contemporary prints and MICA’s effort to integrate the historic Globe Poster collection of wood type into the school’s curriculum.

Hancock’s print, and views of the artist working. *Disclosure: I teach at MICA, though I am not actively involved in the Globe project.

Furthermore, Baltimorons will be treated to the 3rd Annual Open Space Publications and Multiples Fair, Baltimore Print Mix at Current Space, Pulled: Evidence of a Print Community at Case[Werks], and more exciting print-related events.

We hope to see any Mid-Atlantic Printeresting fans at our lecture this weekend!
