June Wayne, 1918-2011


June Wayne, artist, advocate, and founder of the Tamarind Institute passed away on August 23rd, 2011.

A prolific artist, and print visionary, Wayne is often credited for single-handedly reviving lithography in the United States. Her collaborative work in the 1960’s called renewed attention to the importance of the fine art print. You can read more about her life and accomplishments and see artwork on her website here, and her obituary from the LA Times can be found here.
