From Cuba, via Chicago: The Neche Collection

NC No. 3 (2011), by Veronica Corzo-Duchardt

Chicago printmaker, Winterbureau designer, and writer Veronica Corzo-Duchardt has started a charming online collection called Neche (“Ne che”). It is an homage to family, an inventory of the personal possessions of her late grandfather Neche Eugenio Hadad, and a weekly series of screenprints inspired by his objects. Corzo-Duchardt describes her grandfather as a “Cuban exile of Lebanese descent, accountant, collector and sometimes thief,” and presents his material possessions with a loving sense of wonder and personal narrative. You can learn more here.

On the left is one of the Neche Collection archive materials, a lottery number tally sheet. On the right is the fourth print inspired by the collection, NC No. 4, in an edition of 15, 2 color screen printed poster, 11″ x 14″, 80 Lb. Cover / Construction White Wash French Paper.
