Past Present: Project Lambe-Lambe

We’re really excited that our St. Louis curatorial project, Past Present, features work by the Brazilian collaborative group Project Lambe-Lambe. Their large-scale, woodblock reproduction of Durer’s Rhinoceros will is installed on a billboard off-site (pictures coming soon). The artists responsible for the carving the 15 blocks over the course of one year were Ana Elisa Dias Baptista, Ernesto Bonato, Fabricio Lopez, Fernando Vilela, Flávio Castellan, Francisco José Maringelli, Luciano Ogura Buralli, and Paulo Camillo Penna.

The piece has been wheat-pasted all over the world (most recently in Caracas, Venezuela and Havana, Cuba). This is the first time it will be displayed in the United States. Check out some pics of past installations…
