This week, as you’re humming along to the holiday Muzak at your local mall, remember this nugget of print trivia from NPR:

The hymn “Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” originally had nothing at all to do with Christmas, and certainly was not sung with Charles Wesley’s familiar lyrics… “The music by Felix Mendelssohn was composed for male chorus in 1840 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Gutenberg’s printing press.
