TXTS IN THE AGE OF MECHANICAL REPRODUCTION

Breanne Trammell‘s TXTS IN THE AGE OF MECHANICAL REPRODUCTION is a project that filters excerpts from Trammell’s twitter feed through the letterpress technology. Executed on a Vandercook SP-20 using metal and wood type at Kala Institute in Berkeley, CA, this portfolio reminds us of the ephemeral nature of most digital chatter and the beauty hidden within even disjointed words and seemingly random phrases when they are embossed with ink on paper.

From Trammell…

I use twitter like an abbreviated diary, and the project is mainly about making these digital entries tangible objects. Given the rich history of letterpress, I am honoring these thoughts and moments by taking the time to set the type, mix ink, run the press…

The prints are presented as a Letterpress Folio of 12 prints in an edition of 20, 5″ x 7″. There are two more to check out below and then you can see the rest by clicking HERE.
