Anni Altshuler at TRICKGO!

IMG_2883.JPG

Anni Altshuler‘s recent show at TRICKGO is delightful collection of prints, printed banners (for lack of a better description) and small dioramas. Altshuler, a philadelphia based artist and textile designer is a member of Space 1026 and half of the Holly Holly Hobby Hobby cartel, and in full disclosure a very occasional contributor to this blog. The work, largely screen printing and gouache on paper. The compositionally the work alludes to medieval tapestries and French toile patterns while narrative depicts groups of women who look to be keeping very busy. I won’t sully it further with any half-baked theorizing, check out all the pictures after the jump.

I would recommend you go check out the show, but TRICKGO, keeping with their asymmetrical business model that is half-way between a ‘ghost store’ and a under-staffed art project, inexplicably changed the show after about two weeks.
