A Recent Visit to Art in the Age

On a recent First-Friday in Old City Philadelphia a Printeresting correspondent made their way over to the opening event at the Art in the Age Store/Gallery. From the graphic wallpaper (below),  to the branded coat hangers (belower) every aspect of this printed merch paradise is a love affair between form and function.

In addition racks of smart, artist designed clothing, above is a picture of their limited edition Civil War Stationary, who knew the reenactment scene was such an untapped market for printed matter? Actually this is a great project where Art in the Age partnered with the Pennsylvania Historical society to reprint art work from the archive.

More pictures after the jump.

I’m not really sure what this is, but it’s the best art I’ve seen in months.

merch galore!

img_4873This great print was hanging by the dressing rooms and was from a series of works done to honor the bi-centennial birth of Lincoln.

The gallery had a solid group show with a range of  media (and now everyone in Philly will be able to date how long ago I actually took these pictures. Sorry for the time delay folks, it’s a busy time of year).

Above are examples of the great letterpress posters by Robin McDowell.

img_4865This strange, compelling and nutritious beet juice drawing is by Beth Brandon.

img_4872I need to apologize, this is a great piece by Courtney Dailey and my photo doesn’t really do it justice.
