SGC Chicago: The Gift Economy in Praxis

img_4589

It seems like there were at least four comics in this week’s New Yorker that poke fun at the idea that in this economy soon we will all be bartering and trading for our daily bread. I feel confident that when the bottom drops out that the print world will have had years of practice enjoying the benefits of a good ole’ fashioned gift economy of the type Lewis Hyde would appreciate. The most recent example of this phenomena came to me today while wandering around the many portfolio exchanges on display at the print conference. Follow the link to see many more examples of the art work, due to the nature of the display It was very difficult to discern which artist made what, if you see work displayed here that you recognize please let me know the artist’s name.

If for any reason, an artist or venue wants these images removed from Printeresting, just let us know and we’ll comply in a timely manner.
