PenJet

The PenJet project emerged from a workshop at Amsterdam’s Rietveld Academie. The PenJet’s creators attached colored pens to a desktop printer, and controlled the movements of the printer head to produce text and images. Each color is printed in a separate run, and the results are somewhat unpredictable. The creators adapted several printers in this way; apparently each machine has its own distinctive “handwriting.” The team that developed the PenJet has used the system in several design and illustration projects.
