Gutenberg Gone Digital

Only the awkwardness of 3D animation can capture the life and times of Johannes Gutenberg in a way that children of the information age can understand. Though I have to question the historical accuracy of that orange chair… the animators may have to do a bit more research on period furniture.

    WOW!

This video comes very close to the quality of the movie shown AT the Gutenberg Museum in Mainz, Germany. Picture the above shown video, yet rendered with ….puppets!! Incredibly awkward, almost painful to watch, but it seemed to go over well with the elderly guests.
A very fine museum overall, but they need to get rid of the old 70’s film and well, maybe not animate something, but just update the damn movie!

At 0:46, Gutenberg stares at himself in the mirror with an expression of pure horror. Clearly he’s dismayed by the uncanny verisimilitude of this animation.

    I dig the 1:10 in credits on a 4:40 minute film, a full 25%!
