Anyone for a Uniquely Customizable Multiple to Carry Your Messages?
Founded in the late 90’s by Ellie Lum and Roland Burns, R.E. Load bags have been consistently making amazingly unique bike messenger bags. Originally coveted by bike messengers along the east coast and Pacific Northwest, the bags have spread in popularity to the urban cyclists, hipsters and commuters around the world. While there are ten or so templates for bag designs, a soon-be-owner can collaborate with the bag designers to tweak literally dozens of different components within a nearly unlimited range of colors and fabric combinations. Did I mention that you can design your own graphic applique for the front flap or choose from one the dozens of ready to wear designs, of which they produce limited, variable runs? All the bags are made in the good ol’ US of A at either their Philadelphia or Seattle locations. R.E.Load’s bags are a great example of the ways a Bauhaus spirit informs the current wave uniquely crafted object that merge key elements of art with design in everyday objects.

Yes please! I’ll take a Herbie Hancock bag for myself, a deer bag for my lovely wife, and a gas-station-in-the-wilderness bag for Amze (who is clearly fishing for a birthday present).
I’m glad someone is paying attention!
