Post-It Project

Instigated by Nick Karvounis at the Maryland Institute College of Art, the Post-It Project placed oversized sticky-note reminders all about the city of Baltimore. The site-specific notes were written by various authors, screenprinted on giant paper, and then placed by the authors themselves.

I’m a sucker for prints placed in unexpected public places. What better way to transform a space quickly, and without lasting damage to boot? The downside of such interventions is that they tend to be fleeting. The above work, Talk to the Kids about Leisure Capital, as described by participant Christopher Whittey:

The post-it was designed to query the relationship between the market economy and the ability to purchase the commodity of leisure… Regrettably, the post-it did not have the opportunity to perform this interrogating, or not for very long in any case, as two very large men ran out of the store and angrily demanded much information prior to releasing the post-er and his post-it.

Another highlight, Fix Boat by Alexis Morgan:

Wow. This is great. Baltimore is a hotbed of printeresting activity. I love the question mark post-it on that Borofsky monstrosity.
